Great Scott! Cam Scott Hits 3 HRs in G1, Earns CG Win in G2 as Chargers Win 8th in a Row

Cam Scott (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) swatted three home runs in Game 1 and pitched a four-hit complete game in the nightcap as the Carl Sandburg College baseball team ran its win streak to eight with a doubleheader sweep at Sauk Valley on Tuesday.

The Chargers (12-15, 6-2) have won 10 of their last 12 overall and finished a sweep of the season series with the Skyhawks, outscoring them 61-27 over four games.

Key Moment
Up 3-2 in the fourth, Sandburg sent 10 batters to the dish as it scored seven times to blow the game open. The Chargers had their first seven batters of the inning reach base.

Sandburg Standout
Scott had a monster game, homering three times as he finished 4 for 4 with a walk and 13 total bases. He scored four runs and drove in seven. The shortstop hit a two-run shot to right in the first, sent a leadoff shot to center in the third and capped his huge game with a three-run jack to left in the seventh.

Key Moment
The Chargers struck for a pair of first-inning runs as Collins reached on an error to lead off the game and scored two batters later on Scott’s double to right-center. Scott came around when Darst followed with an opposite-field base hit.

Sandburg Standout
Scott turned in a stellar performance on the mound as well, going the distance while allowing just one run on four hits. He fanned eight, didn’t issue a walk and threw 73 of his 98 pitches for strikes.
